What is Blended Learning?

Do you want to study for a Degree, but feel like you just don’t have the time to fit it into your life? Our Blended Learning courses combine innovative online learning with traditional, face-to-face classes to give you a more flexible way to study.

How does it work?

The face-to-face hours are delivered over 2 days per week, during the day or in the evenings, through attendance at one of our study centres. In addition to this, you will study the remainder of your hours through independent online learning, meaning you can still complete your Degree in 3 years.

This Blended Learning approach means you can study anytime, anywhere and you can contact your tutor for extra support via email or call or email our support team with any questions during normal working hours.

What do you need to study at Arden University?

Our aim is to make Arden as accessible as possible by ensuring that you can join us, wherever you are.

That’s why we keep our requirements simple. All you need is a laptop or computer (we recommend one running the latest version of Windows), and a good stable internet connection.

With this one tool, you’ll be able to access information, advice, support, learning materials and our online library, as well as create assignments, keep notes, and collaborate with other students effectively."

When can I study?

You will study your programme through online independent learning, in addition to face to face seminars/teaching with lecturers in our Study Centres.

Each module is completed over a six week period and each week will require a minimum of 33.5 hours of study which comprises:

  • Minimum 25.5 hours of online independent learning
  • 8 hours of timetabled face-to-face teaching each week based in one Study Centre

Take a look at our example timetable here to see how you could fit Blended Learning study with Arden around your life.

  • Classes will be scheduled on either two mornings (9.00am to 1.00pm), two afternoons (1.30pm to 5.30pm), or two evenings (two nights on campus 5:30-9:30pm) during teaching weeks. Student will be able to opt for their preferred time on application and we will do our best to accommodate all student requests, subject to intake numbers.

  • Classes will remain consistent for an Academic Year.  Timetables (including scheduled days and times) may be subject to change from one Academic Year to the next (we will confirm timetable arrangements four weeks before the beginning of your academic year).

Study skills

During the first 6 weeks of year 1 (Block 1) you will also attend 4 study skills workshops, providing advice and guidance to help you achieve university success. Sessions may include Reading & Note-Taking, iLearn Online Library, Referencing & Plagiarism and Approaching Assignments. This will bring your weekly class time up to 9.5 hours a week for Block 1. The following study blocks will be the usual 8 hours classroom time (+online tuition and self-guided study time).
